CRUK Relay for Life in Rochester
Want to gain expeience of helping organise a major charity event?
Cancer Research UK are looking for volunteers to join the organising commitee for the Rochester Relay for Life.
The actual event akes place on 3rd/4th July 2010 but the committee starts up in Janary.
We are looking for volunteers to assist wit this 24hr charity event, which attracts 250+ participants, who attend for the whole 24hrs - camping out overnight - plus day visitors.
Volunteers are needed in the following areas -
- Team Recruitment -

recruiting teams and team members to take part in the weekend,

encouraging fundraising activties before and during the event,
-
dealing with queries,
-
orgainsing team meetings,
-
providing information...

Survivorsip -
-
Recruting cancer survivors to come along as our VIP's on the day

Dealing with queries and providing info
-
Organisng a pre-event social afternoon
-
-
Cancer awareness and Information
-
Initiating and co-ordinating awareness activity
-
-
Marketing and PR
-
Promoting the event via local businesses
-
Press releases
-
CRUK shops
-
Schools
-
Youth groups
-
Commitment will vary but will involve joining the organising committee and attending evening meetings which will be held at regular intervals, increasing in frequency as the event date approaches - plus prep work as appropriate to the role.
You will also be required to attend the event, if possible for the whole 24hrs, but definitely the Saturday.
