Chinese New Year Celebration in Maidstone

General Assistants needed to support a fun and lively Multicultural event in

Maidstone to celebrate Chinese New Year

 

We urgently need volunteers to support the exciting and colourful Chinese New Year celebrations to be held in the Chequers Centre on Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 January from 11-3 each day.

General assistants are needed to help with the activities and encourage visitors to join in the fun.

 On Saturday children young and old can learn to make paper dragons and lanterns, play chop sticks and marbles games, watch Chinese Dragon Dance and Chinese Opera face painting. There will be performances of Chinese Opera, Chinese traditional dance.

The Mayor of Maidstone, Councillor Denise Joy, will join in the celebrations from 2pm.

On Sunday there will be traditional music and dance, a Tai-Chi demonstration, Chinese brush painting and writing, paper craft, dragon and lantern making, chop stick and marbles games.
