Can you spare some time to help the NSPCC? - Saltwood Castle Plant Sale

On Saturday 8th May, The Ashford Branch of the NSPCC is holding it's 8th annual Open Garden and Plant Sale in the historic grounds Saltwood Castle, with the kind permission of Mrs. Jane Clark.

Specialist  nurseries will be selling unusual perennials, small flowering trees, alpines, geraniums and iris's, garden sculptures, pots, baskets and hand crafted wooden gardening accessories.

There will also be delicious homemade cakes, BBQ sausages and burgers and healthy lunch options.

Saltwood Castle was the much loved home of the historian, the late Rt. Hon. Alan Clark MP.  The grounds are not normally open to the public so this is a rare opportunity to see this romantic, medieval castle which is steeped in history. This picture-postcard moated castle has beautiful grounds including a secret garden with peacocks.

The event has run at Saltwood Castle for the past two years and has proved to be very popular. Over 1300 people attended last year so we need lots of pairs of hands to help with the event.

We will need volunteers to

  • help with the parking,
  • directing cars in and out and to spaces.
  • We may also need volunteers to help on the entrance gate. This will involve taking the £5 admission fee

Volunteers are needed fom 9 to 5.
